As a bit of a rookie in the comic world, I find it difficult to judge what is good and what is bad - I can only talk about what I found enjoyable, so that is what I am going to do. In this first volume of Saga, we are introduced to Alana and Marko and their newborn child. The premise of the story is really exciting, it's basically a fantasy space opera with a forbidden-love story. Space located novels (and I guess it's the same case with comics) tend to hold on to science and stay away from magic; the closest to the fantasy genre they will go is inventing various alien species. In Saga, however, the fantasy world has been upscaled to space scale. We've got a planet and moon in war against each other, fighting out their battles on other planets so as not to damage their homes. I've just got to say, you had me at intergalactic war.

One thing that I absolutely love is the narrative perspective. The panels are narrated real time, but here and there, the real narrator of the story, Alana and Marko's daughter, will comment on what is happening. The two narrative perspectives complement each other really well as the daughter's retrospective narration explains things that might not have been obvious from the action in the panels but also provides a lot of foreshadowing.

Well, I'd really recommend reading Saga. It's entertaining and it's got a cool story. I think it's going to take another volume or two for me to really love this as this first one doesn't really go beyond setting everything up (which is my only problem really and the reason it's not getting 5 stars).

Wow!! I thought this was a wonderful start to this series. I was hooked from the beginning. Sure, it was a bit of a cheesy love story with a few cliches thrown in there. But the art is captivating, and the story and the different races in the story are so cool! And I'm really interested because it is told from the daughter's point of view, as she's looking back on this. That makes me even more curious to find out what happens to her parents. This was a well needed break from academic reading, and I can't wait to devour the rest of the series.

A new world humourously mixed with items and parts of our real lives, I wish this comic book was longer, I wish it was a novel. This is my first comic/graphic novel (honestly, I still don't know the difference between the terms) and I couldn't have picked a better one!
Got it from a free Play Books download and I'm definitely gonna invest on keeping up with the Saga saga.
I can't begin to describe how in awe I am at Fiona Staples' illustrations of this jaw dropping world and at Brian K. Vaughan's writing and creation and narration of the comic.
It felt like reading a really good sci-fi sitcom, which I really needed right now. 10/10 would recommend and won't stop talking about it at least in the foreseeable future.

I loved it. I didn't know what to expect but it blew my mind. It was interesting from beginning to end and I'm actually excited for the next one. Usually when I read graphic novels I'm not sure how I feel because not enough has happened for me to go off of. But this one, I was instantly sucked in.

Its crass, action packed with hints of humor and I couldn't help but root for the main two characters. Forbidden love has always been a thing for me and I really look forward to seeing how this goes.

This was pretty good. A little frustrating cuz you have no idea what is going on in the grand sense but it's still an interesting story and I'll definitely continue.
Second read: this series is just incredible. I'm so glad I gave it a chance.

I’ve only started reading graphic novels a few weeks ago and I’m really enjoying catching up with the good ones that have been recommended various times years before.

Out of the few I’ve read, Saga is probably the best! I thought I wouldn’t like it because I rarely indulge in sci-fi and fantasy novels, but honestly what’s not to like about Saga. It’s so good and addictive, I can’t stop reading it!

The artwork is amazing, and the pacing is just right. I haven’t read many graphic novels and comics, so I can’t comment on the plot itself yet until I get myself familiarized on how it usually flows in this format.

1. i love the vibes and the world building along with the dynamic of our main couple. it’s kinda giving “she’s everything and he’s just ken” vibes.

2. izabel and marko are my favorite characters and i loved how marko is this pacifist who struggles with violence in more ways than one and is currently dealing with like ptsd ?

3. love how hazel is the narrator i loved her voice and seeing what she had to say through out vol 1.
