I feel extremely conflicted when writing this review. On the one hand, this was an interesting read. But on the other hand I just feel drained after finishing it.
It feels cheap to have the reader think for 80% of the book that Joseph is cheating on these women only to find out that these events/women were spread across multiple years. It all falls into place, but in doing so, I just feel sad? Like Siobhan never got her happiness? And our lesson is supposed to be seize the day kids cuz you never know? I hate that. Mid as hell. And now I’m just depressed. Like yeah Joseph should find happiness again. But I just spent most of the book thinking he’s scummy. And now I’m supposed to grieve for this guy? Nope. Siobhan deserved better.

I found this pretty confusing, until the last few chapters when it all clicked - it wasn’t my favourite read, hence the 3 stars, but once I understood it all and had reached the plot twist reveal, I found it easy to look back over what I’d read and the confusion started to become clearer!

Thanks to Berkley and Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review this title prior to publication. I loved The Flatshare so much, and I was really looking forward to this new book by Beth O'Leary. Siobhan, Miranda, and Jane are all in a relationship with Joseph Carter, and this book is about the unpacking and unraveling of those relationships. I picked this up when I needed something lighthearted to go with my heavier reads, and I loved how fast I was turning the pages. I really liked many of the characters as well - and while I was very suspicious of Joseph, another reviewer had me giving him a chance. However, I felt so duped by the twist in this book. It did not work for me. I did continue reading, but I was just not happy about this one. Still, I loved the characters and the writing, so this remains a 3.5 star book for me.

This book was absolutely charming, a tear-jerker, and actually surprised me with the plot twist!! This is the type of book I’m going to read again and notice all the small details I missed the first time. Touches on serious topics in such a human way and this is the first book i’ve read that acknowledges the pandemic which i was weary at, at first, but was in a tasteful way. I absolutely loved this just as much as The Flat-share!

I really thought Joseph Carter was cheating on all three and I was so mad. Beth O’Leary done an amazing job with the timeline of this book. Piecing together what really happened and when made me not want to put this book down. Definitely a tear jerker at the end but also so beautiful.
