Loving writing style that you always get from Victoria Hislop, but no where near the standard plotwise of the island. But an easy and enjoyable read nonetheless.

The sequel to the Island was an okay read but felt it wasn't to the norm I expect of this author but felt could of expanded a bit more of a few more of the plot lines and felt in parts a bit flat.

This was definitely a book I needed to read as soon as possible. After recently rereading The Island I was so excited to get stuck into this book. It is quite a short book at just over 200 pages but it had all the content I craved for.
Victoria has managed to wrap up quite a lot of questions I had remaining at the end of The Island. I wanted to know more about Manolis and thats exactly what I got from this book. She also manages to change my feelings towards a few characters by the end of this book too.
The style of writing is so beautifully immersive. I was swept away by the lush descriptions of life in Crete and also on the other side of the scale, I was disgusted by some things that happened to the lovely Maria. Victoria has a great talent of making you feel completely invested in the characters that you feel all kinds of emotions reading about each of them.
If you are like me and loved The Island, I urge you to read this book. A stunning and touching story that definitely lived up to my high expectations.
