Wonderfully weird, I loved this. Especially the mean girl snark was enjoyable. So enjoyable.

Wtf did I just read?

I have seen many people either loving this book or completely hating it, there seems to be close to no middle ground here, and I am definitely on the side of the people who loved it.
This was a train wreck for sure and while reading it I felt like I was driving through a forest with at least 200 km/h and you're wondering like "why am I doing this" and "what's going on" and there are branches hitting you and suddenly you almost hit a deer and it's scary and out of control but in the best way.
At no point did I ever expect this to go where it went in the end and I'm still somewhat in shock. But I loved every second of it.

I guess this is probably not for everyone but it was definitely for me.

in awe of how a book this beautifully written can narrate so much creepiness and disturbance

Unsure how to review this tbh, it's pretty mind-boggling. Enjoyed the setting and the MC, did get a bit unnerved towards the end which I suppose is the intent! I think this genre is just not for me, it's hard for me to fully appreciate or grasp lol. I can see why people love it but I finished it thinking wow! That was unpleasant. Not great for a gal who reads for escapism. Very very cleverly written though!

I had no real clue what I was getting into when I picked this book and if I'm being honest, I can't say I know much better now that I've finished it.

Told from the perspective of an unreliable narrator, themes of belonging and self-discovery are explored in a bizarre and unsettling ways that somehow deeply resonante with the readers. Awad's use of prose to reflect the state of mind of Samantha and her relationship with the Bunnies is seamless and engulfing. The subtle foreshadowing to plot development made what was an otherwise chaotic unfolding of events feel less like a suckered punch and more like the twisting of a knife.

I don't understand what just happened. Every time I thought I did, the plot shifted and Samantha went through another episode of insanity. Anything I could say would be saying too much and I think you need to enter this with all little information as possible; you can easily assume this book one thing when it's completely and utterly something else.

When y'all said this book was bizarre, you meant it. When you said it reminded you of "The Secret History"... You lost me. Entirely. This book really reminded me the most of Heathers, and at times Mean Girls, sometimes The Craft?

Additionally, Awad can get very redundant with certain words, especially in the beginning of the book. Also her descriptions don't make a lot of sense? I think she tries really hard to sound poetic and profound, but doesn't harbor the skill to do it well. Her writing isn't necessarily bad but I've read better. A lot of times it came off corny... And don't get me started on how Jonah talked. I can't tell if that was intentional or not.

I mean... I'd read it again, I wouldn't recommend this to anybody.
