This is undeniably a great book. The writing is superb and the trials Esther goes through are captivating and very real. However, I would be weary that this book is emotionally challenging to read. Personally I found it a struggle, there were times I had to put it away because it was so difficult. But I've had my own experiences with mental health issues, depression and suicide, so I realise my perspective is biased. I've rated this so highly even though it was challenging for me, because the book made me feel like I was not alone in my experience. There was something so exposed and human about this book that really made me appreciate it as art. Overall, a beautiful piece that does not hold back.

It reads very easily but I did't get the intention behind the book, to me it felt very empty. Had it been more of a social commentary I think I wiuld have liked it more but it was cery supwrficial on a lot topics so I don't know what to think about it. For me it's not a memorable book.

Also there is a very long list of trigger warning, I put all the ones I remembered in my post.

I would not have finished this book if it was not assigned to me. I never had any reason to root for Esther, or even to like her, save that the alternative was her death. Also, the consistent racism was a huge turnoff.

Wow! This book is intense and not for the faint of heart.
Plath's writing is so powerful in depicting depression, pain, womanhood, and just the scariness of being a person. It's a very quick read. This book made me feel things and think on important topics not only in my life, but life in general.

I can't count how many of the narrator's internal dialogue resonated with me. The writing was extremely well done and I felt for Esther Greenwood deeply. Again, this book is not for the faint of heart; suicidal thoughts and ideation are a HEAVY theme in this book, so read with caution.

I'd recommend this book to anyone who is lost in their life or is going through a hard time. It helps to read books that share similar thoughts and feelings and seeing your own thoughts put to paper. It also helps to know that you are not alone in what you are feeling, that there are others who have felt what you feel and resonate with your experience.
