It's good, definitely helps fill the huge Stranger Things sized hole in my heart. I have most of the other novels so I'm gonna try to stretch them along the next 2 years so I get my Stranger Things kick.

I didn't expect to enjoy this as much as I did. Max is one of my favorite characters, so it says a lot when I say that her characterization was spot on. A lot of times books that cover plotlines that you've already seen but just from different perspectives can be boring and predictable. But this wasn't. The inner dialogue and backstory we got made it so interesting. I loved how the relationship between Max and Billy was explored. I know this isn't a canon account but I thought it was really believable, and helped fill some gaps in a really cool way. I do wish a little bit more of the sci-fi eque vibes were there though. If you like Max, I think you'll really enjoy this, if you are looking for a "upside down" heavy plotline this is probably not for you though.

Loved reading from the perspective of one of my favourite Stranger Things Characters as well as learning more about here, most of the book was Season 2 from Max's perspective but that didn't make me dislike the book.
