This was basically rape ending with stockholm syndrome. She was coerced into everything and 'consented' but it was literally "consent or die" (I was literally hoping she would chose death) and it was established in chapter 1 she didn't want children, midway through she was coerced into accepting that she had to have children and then it was revealed she was lucky enough to be infertile. Unfortunately she was 'lucky' and did get pregnant which she was happy about because of course all women just need convincing and they'll change their minds 🤨. The entire book gave me the ick and I was very uncomfortable, I only finished to see her save the other women.

Che dire... Questo libro era quasi esattamente quello che cercavo quando ho intrapreso la sua lettura e un po' di più: un libro fantasy romance contenente delle scene erotiche esplicite con i mostri, con un po' di tinte dark, anche se a dire il vero per certi aspetti lo sarebbe stato maggiormente.
Quello che non mi aspettavo: il sapore dello sperma dei mostri e il fatto che debbano nutrirla tramite esso come in The Scorpion's Mate , la dolcezza dei protagonisti, "the heat", che mi ha riportato alla mente Wounded Kiss.
L'unica cosa che mi ha del tutto convinto è la parte politica/rivoluzione politica , ma l'epilogo a risolto tutto con l'annuncio della gravidanza di lei e del fatto che sia una bambina , in quanto era da circa da metà del libro che desideravo che accadesse.
