This book made my month. Silly but with a lovely message.

When mom sneezes in the middle of wishing for world peace, she gets world pizza. Cute idea but a little too simplistic for my tastes.

Delightful + fun book for anyone who grew up loving Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. :)

Meh. It's a cute idea but I don't love the execution.

Too didactic for my tastes, but kids might enjoy the pizza metaphor.

This would be a good book to share during the kindness challenge and talk about different foods- and differences. "They peeked over their fences and frowned at the pizzas that looked nothing like their own." Why do we get suspicious and mean when something is different? Well, it keeps us safe. This is an example of how it's harder to be kind than it is to be mean. We need to take risks when we are kind, risks like trying pickles on pizza.

Kids' books are like photographs: their relative ease of production often has a detrimental effect on the finished product. Fortunately, in a sea of low-effort, poorly-illustrated stories, there are always standouts like World Pizza.

As a parent, I appreciated the gorgeous illustrations and the nice messages about diversity, getting along with others, taking care of the homeless, etc.; as a five-year-old, my daughter appreciated the fact that pizzas fell from the sky everywhere. ("You should read this, Mama," she told me. "It's REALLY funny.") We'll be hanging onto this one.

(I received this book for free through a Goodreads giveaway.)
