I do think that some of the opinions in this book are very controversial, especially some involving personality disorders hence my 4 instead of 5 star rating. However I found this topic to be very interesting and I learned a lot about different historical figures. I guess I expected to learn more about the mental illness aspect coming into reading this but for me I felt the new information was on the people themselves. I didn’t mind that though. I would suggest this book to others with trigger warnings and the advice to read many other books on the subject of mental health as well!

As someone who’s studied art history, is a creative, and has many mental health struggles, this was insanely interesting. I loved the way the facts and details were shared. I was still left wondering how much impact mental health has on creativity, but don’t know if that can ever fully be answered.

Lost interest after Lincoln chapter (veered to close to maybe his depression made him a great man (guy said he couldn't carry a penknife around because of his melancholy)), then library loan expired
