I really appreciated the reminders about who God is in this book. I especially appreciated the insights in Incomprehensible, Sovereign, and Conclusion chapters.

This is my second book by Jen Wilkin, and it won't be my last. Wilkin discusses 10 attributes of God and provides Scripture and questions at the end of each chapter. This book is an easy and quick read.

Don't be deceived by the pretty floral cover: this book is a hard-hitter. Wilkin digs deep into the inhuman attributes of God and what they really mean for our lives and hearts. If you spend time with this book, it will cut deep and inspire self-reflection and humility.

(Note: This book is aimed toward women, which is clear in the introduction and conclusion, but anyone can gain some wisdom from it--some of my male friends have enjoyed it as well.)

On one hand, most of this is pretty elementary stuff if you’ve been a Christian for a while. On the other, this was a good choice right at the start of a pandemic where our human weakness is on full display.

In this book Jen Wilkin explores these characteristics of the Lord: Infinite, Incomprehensible, Self-Existent, Self-Sufficient, Eternal, Immutable, Omnipresent, Omniscient, Omnipotent, and Sovereign. After each chapter she has thought provoking questions and a guide to prayer.

Easy to read but plenty to ponder. Would pair very well with her follow-up, In His Image. I read them in the wrong order and years apart, but it didn't matter. Both are great.
