WOW! I have heard a lot of great things about this book from other book bloggers so I had to get a copy and see for myself (high expectations), I wasn't disappointed! This is the first story I have read by Ragnar and it will not be my last, I devoured this story in two days! I loved it. Rupture is written well, easy to read and contains short chapters. I would highly recommend this story to you all! I believe this is the fourth book in the Dark Iceland series and I will be going back to read all the previous stories however, this did read well as a stand alone.

I don't know how to describe this book exactly but it was brilliant, I dived into another world while reading this story and enjoyed every minute of it! I cannot wait to see what the other stories contain and are like. A well deserved five stars and one of a kind story. Enjoy, I did.

Rupture is the fourth in Ragnar Jonasson's Dark Iceland series and I think it's the best yet! In this book, Siglufjordur is in lockdown to prevent the spread of an infectious disease which sounds similar to ebola. You would think this would mean that policeman Ari Thor would be having a quiet time with all the residents staying safely at home but no! There is a hit-and-run to deal with, political intrigue, a child abduction, a cold-case to investigate which might or might nor be murder, Ari Thor's boss possibly moving away and he is rekindling his relationship with Kristin. It's all go in this usually a quiet, isolated northern Icelandic town.

I seriously think they need to get more police in Siglufjordur. Ari Thor and his boss Tomas are managing the whole town between them which means they pretty much have no days off. The town may have been a quiet place before but over the course of the last few books, it seems more crime is being committed and more and more long-held dark secrets are being revealed. Maybe it's the cold weather and isolation which drives people slightly mad causing them to commit crimes? Isrun, the news reporter from Reykjavik, makes a reappearance in this book and I enjoyed how she and Ari Thor's investigations, while seeming separate initially, gradually overlapped and connected.

As with all the Dark Iceland books, Rupture is well paced with many little twists and surprises revealed along the way, keeping me interested and keen to find out what would happen next. There is plenty of tension, particularly with the abduction of the child. The child's step-father has reasons of his own to want to keep his past well hidden from his new partner. It was good to get more a look at the characters' personal lives in this book with Ari Thor showing his warmer side as he and Kristin make tentative steps towards reconciling. Isrun's personal life added another interesting aspect to the story and I hope we get to see her again.

Rupture is an excellent crime read with the beauty of Icelandic location adding plenty atmosphere and chill. The quarantine adds an even greater feeling of claustrophobia than ever. Ragnar Jonasson draws together the threads of his story beautifully leading to a satisfying ending. But please, someone get Ari Thor more colleagues!

While Ari Thór is waiting to the quarantine of an haemorrhagic fever to be lifted up, he decided to take a look at an old case... but when a baby is missing he thinks that maybe the past is repeating again... Ready for Rupture?

This is my first book of Ragnor Jónasson of the Dark Iceland series, the 4th on the series. I loved the paced style and how the author unwraps this chilling mystery between a quarantine and a mysterious kidnapping. He makes you feel the cold, loneliness and isolation in your bones!
I have to confess that I was addicted to the book since the first page, I didn't wanted to miss anything of the life of Ísrún the journalist or Ari, the detective. I finished the book in just 4 hours!
Ísrún and Ari have a quite an enigma in their hands... There was a suicide in an isolated house a long time ago, but now an old photo has appeared with a mysterious child on it, was him the murderer? It was quite interesting how Ari discovered all the secrets of the family in just one photo and the help of her Ísrún, I hope all the detectives are as sharp as Ari!
In this case we have some politics involved, and of course they are corrupted, liars and with a secret agenda... Is there any country with a fair government? It's sad and disturbing to think that the answer is no!
This is a book I highly recommend, one of those books that you don't want to end, it's a short story with some amazing characters that you will love since the first page.
Are you sure you want to visit Iceland?

It’s probably my fault for picking up the third book in the series before the first two but I felt like there were too many characters with too many things going on in their lives for emotion to build. Besides, the resolution of the mystery drags on for so long that it does not feel rewarding.

In the north of Iceland, Ari thor opens an old case, based on a fifty year old photograph. Who is the unknown figure and was a crime committed? Further south in Reykjavik, a man in an apartment with his wife and child hears a noise. Finding the door open but no one around, he returns to bed...and finds wet footprints on the floor.

This is is the fourth instalment in the Dark Iceland series and I'm fully immersed in it now. I've had some problems working out the order of the English translations, and had actually started #4 before realising my mistake. You could read them as stand alones but I have enjoyed the development of Ari Thor. ísrún is also an interesting character and adds another dimension to the investigations.

As usual, I found myself guessing to the end, especially with the photograph case. I kept willing Ari Thor to speed up with the reveal, excellent tension. The other case just didn't appeal to me as much, it just didn't ring through. Still, it's well paced, moody, well written and an excellent page turner. it would be three and a half stars if such a thing existed
