I was impressed by this book and enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would. The downfall for me were an unlikable MC and disappointingly tepid chemistry/connection. I do like the premise but had issues with the characterization and staying engaged.

I didn't realize how much of a novella this was. I always want more time with the couple, but for how long it was, it was well paced.
BUT I loved how well researched this was! Great depth of information about Kin's community, language, history, etc.

I hated the ending, you just get to see some tentative plans being made but that's about it. I felt like this story was just limping along since there wasn't much going on.

Short and sweet story of two lonely and hurt men finding each other. Enjoyed the read but it didn't make me feel anything.

Had to drop a half star for the pronunciation of Toque! It rhymes with "fluke" not "toke" (what one does with a doobie). Had it been mention only once I would have been able to let it go but the book is set in the Canadian Arctic and toque was said again and again making my brain itch each and every time!
Also, I think I must have read this years ago in an anthology because it was very familiar.

It wasn't memorable but it's still a lovely story, I'm unsure about the ending tho

Joel Leslie is probably doing some heavy lifting for this novella, but I really enjoyed this. Kind of a slice of life with a strong HFN. CW for PTSD shown in some detail.
Moderate: Mental illness
