About as close to comic book perfection as one can ask for. It is truly a work of art. Each page is gorgeous and could be stared at individually in a gallery.

Okay but ultimately unfulfilling. This was recommended to me because I said I wanted some Batman stuff that showcased some of the cool villains. That's exactly what this is, but I should have been clearer about what I want -- this is a showcase and nothing more. What I guess I really wanted was something that explored one of the villains in-depth. But that doesn't really happen here.

Decent story for what it is but it feels like Batman: Dilletante Edition.

I'll admit the plot wasn't really my cup of tea, but the real star of the show here is absolutely Tim Sale's artwork. It's gorgeously atmospheric and stylised and just really elevates the dark and twisted story. I'm particularly in love with how Sale draws all the Gotham Rogues. More people need to draw Joker and Scarecrow looking extra freaky and Catwoman being super buff that's all I'm saying

Even though I wasn't a fan of the drawing style it really grew on me. The story is really good.

This was really fun, and I can definitely tell this was one of the main inspirations for Matt Reeve's The Batman earlier this year.

The mystery is one that is always intriguing throughout, and the artwork is just breathtaking at some points, as well as chilling ( a specific double-page depiction of certain villains ).

The big plot twist is a little (?) but still a very enjoyable time!
