This book was a fever dream, with every new chapter written more absurd than the last

The writing is very abstract, so if you’re willing to be tested/creative then I recommend this read. I wasn’t expecting to feel as moved as I did towards the ending!

I'm now convinced that Ali Smith books are best read when read out loud. With such a simple premise (young woman plunges to her death on a dumbwaiter), this book brings out all the feels.

This book probably had one of the most captivating first pages of anything I’ve ever read. The writing was so unlike what I’m used to and I LOVED IT. I was sad when I realized it wasn’t all from that first character’s perspective but each new voice eventually won me over. (Except for the last one—I needed more punctuation from her!)

Just a scrumptious story with some really tender moments. Felt a bit like Clarice Lispector if she were writing from London in the early 2000s.
