This was an audiobook for me and I went into it blind. I had read one review of a trusted bookstagrammer and the cover / title peeked my interest. It was a little difficult for me to follow at first but I think that is because I went into it blind and it was audio. But I loved that there was one more then reader, it felt very fitting as the author moved from each characters story and perspective. This is a complex story of love and all the different ways that love can manifest. It isn’t a typical love story, but it is beautiful and raw.

I picked this one up from the library not knowing anything about it but some writers that I enjoy wrote some blurbs about how good it was so I was like why not? But ya know what I should stick to my gut and not pick up books I haven’t done extensive research on. It took me forever to read this book and I didn’t even want to give up on it but when I got to the last 20 pages I was like you know what I really dislike this book and don’t have to read it!! The storytelling was fine and that’s why I kept at it for so long but the story itself was just not compelling. I truly did not care about these characters in the slightest so for it to then end in the last chapter about Covid and then into the horrors of policing in the summer of 2020 I was OUT! I lived through that shit I absolutely do not need to read about it, even if it was only the last 30 pages of the book. I’ll never know how it ended but can’t say I’m disappointed.

I think it is more satisfying to think of this as a set of interconnected short stories than a novel
