“For the ones we love, nothing is ever trouble, and everything is never enough.”
Against the Loveless World is raw and haunting and heartbreaking. It's slow, but worth the time. A harrowing glimpse into the lives of Palestinian refugees. If you do one thing for Arab Heritage Month, read this book.

This is one of the best books I’ve read in years. It explores the complex Israeli-Palestinian conflict and offers a viewpoint that most Westerners are unfamiliar with -- and it’s a viewpoint that deserves to be shared. The story was deep, rich, heartbreaking and wonderful. Five stars all around.

I really enjoyed this book. It's a view of the Palestinian situation in the Middle East that doesn't get a lot of exposure. Nahr is a believable and likable narrator as she takes us through the events of her life, intermixing them with events taking place in the broader Middle East and her time in solitary confinement in jail. I don't think a reader needs to agree with Nahr's and her friends' beliefs and choices to understand their perseverance and dedication to their cause.

Against the loveless world, love-filled solidarity and revolutionary decolonisation must prevail.

Beautifully written, striking a refreshing balance between an engrossing literary fiction and a galvanising voice to Palestinian realities.
