What bugged me most about this one (aside from the continuously exploitative poses) was Slam. Through the first two volumes, Slam's been easily identifiable as your typical noir guy with his scruffy stubble and greying hair. It's like Gulacy and Palmiotti de-aged him here; making him clean-shaven totally threw me off.

Otherwise it was pretty decent; Selena gets momentarily abducted by that Egyptian cult, and faces off with Philo Zeiss. The War Games set wasn't my favorite -- Bruce is a huge dick to Barbara, of all people. And for what? So that felt dumb. But Bruce and Selina's date was so cute, and her birthday party was a sweet way to wrap it up.

I can't get over how ugly the artwork turned in this one.

The Brubaker stories are decent as usual but then I'm suddenly confronted with a big cross-Gotham event called War Games, of which this volumes contains thrice the seventh issue out of three "acts."

OK? I didn't sign up for that? What I could glean from it is editorial really wanted Batman starring in Death Wish 3 and also somehow it was all some dumb GIRL's fault (holy nuts who hated Stephanie Brown that much?)? Black Mask already revealed to be still alive? Screw you!

I woulda been okay with the Cooke-Gulacy art downgrade but having the actual finale of one's three-volume Catwoman read be some editor-mandated gobbledygook? Fuck off with that shit.

Somewhat salvaged by the really sweet birthday issue.

Great stories but the art is a bit undesirable.

Story was still great, but in order to get the full picture, readers have to track down the tie-ins. In my opinion, that blows.
