One of my fave written female perspectives about the Greek and Trojan war. Although there were many figures involved, they were all strung together well to tell the story.

I’ve learned more about the many female figures involved (some new to me and some I’ve read about before), what they were thinking, how they reacted during and after the war - Hecuba and Clytemnestra reacted with wrath and revenge, Cassandra and Polyxena prefer death over the cursed gift and slavery respectively, Penelope was loyal to the end and Andromache found it in herself to somehow live and love again after losing her husband and son.

Each women reacted differently to the war and they were all as strong as some of the men who fought in their own way.

This has been a lovely genre to discover. Dark, but hella satisfying to hear female voices.

Found it a little wordy and didn’t love the voice she gave Penelope and the muse— a little too on the nose for me. but overall interesting lens for the Greek epics.
