The first 2/3 of the book is really good. The last third of the book felt like it should have been an ending of a completely different book. It felt like to me that author felt like she wanted to go in a completely different direction but didn't bother to change the beginning of the book.

WHY MICHELE JAFFE WHY?!?!?! I was really disappointed in this book. I LOVED "Bad Kitty" and "Kitty Kitty", but I felt this book fell way short of what Michele Jaffe is capable of. It made me sad.

I swear I'm really not into giving 1 star review. But there is NOTHING I enjoyed in this book. 0, nada, niet.

so I'm really surprised to see its average rating on goodreads... like, did we read the same book??
I'm going to assume the French traduction was terrible, because what I read was :
- boring
- predictable (i read 2 chapters and I already knew where this was going, I thought this was supposed to be a THRILLER lol??)
- and most of all very badly written, but once again I'm gonna blame the traductor because there's literally no way this was that badly written in English
- also, I'm now in a reading slump since I read this book, so I really don't have great feelings about it lol

du coup petit message aux français, je conseille pas du tout la traduction lol, et même si j'aurais pu le lire en anglais, la traduction m'a vraiment dégoutée de l'histoire pour le coup :/

Torn between giving this one three and four stars but as a YA book it's not bad so I'm willing to round up and not penalize the author just because I'm a cranky 43 year old woman reading outside of my age range. Made for quick and easy airplane reading and scratched an itch for suspense without getting too far into the awful stuff that "serious adult authors" often feel the need to get into in the books they write for people my age. So four stars it is, by the tiniest margin.

I will admit, I was disappointed with this book. The synopsis sounded so cool. A girl pretending to be somebody else, and that somebody else’s best friend’s ghost starts haunting her? Like, hell yeah! That sounds awesome! And for the first three-quarters or so of the book it was, but then it all went downhill really fast... Read the full review here

This was incredibly hard to get into, and by the end, I still wasn't engrossed in the story. I'm in a bit of a reading slump, but all in all, this book was fairly lacklustre.

There were way too many plot holes for my liking. And the surprise twist at the end felt like cheating. Throughout this book, I kept thinking, "Okay, move on let's go," and was never really satisfied. No one felt real, and who the heck was Nina? The reveal seemed unnatural, much like everything else in this book. It opened way more questions than it answered. Why did Bain and Bridgett need the money so fast, why couldn't they wait the four years for Aurora to be declared dead?
SpoilerDid Aurora know the entire time she was Aurora and not Eve? It seemed like she didn't, but at the end she acted like she did. This sounds like it was done to fool the reader, but it didn't work well at all. Why all the sneaking around for information if she didn't really know who she was?
It felt like this wasn't planned through well at all.

The whole ghost aspect wasn't handled well and left questions unanswered. I think we're supposed to believe someone was behind all the ghostly encounters, but there are some that just can't be explained. Like the howling and scratching at the door. Supposedly camera footage was edited to look like a ghost appeared, but there was no time for that to happen. This book should be renamed Plot Holes Galore. I supposed if you're looking for something quick and suspenseful to read, this could be the book for you, but there were too many problems for me to give it a higher rating. I'm glad I didn't have high hopes for this, or I would have been severely disappointed.

I first read this book when I was fifteen years old and I loved it. And I still love the concept and the story, and it's one that has stuck with me throughout the years. However, I just feel like the entire book could have been written better. For the most part it seems like the writing is choppy and inconsistent. I had a very difficult time keeping up and keeping all of the perspectives straight and in order, both the first time I read it and this second time around. But what bothered me the most is the second half of the book, it was messy, it felt rushed and forced. I had to reread the last couple chapters several times in order to fully understand what the author was trying to convey. In addition, there were sooo many inconsistencies throughout the plot and the ghost part was really really flawed. But if you get past all of this, it is a good book. The concept is amazing, and it really is a brilliant page turner, but the writing just isn't for me.

It was a simple book with a good ending that had me hooked for the last 30 pages or so.
