I am so glad I listened to this book. Her passion and the whole intent of each of her poems were so much more beneficial to me as I listened to her read them. I could feel her pain and expression…so much so that I wanted to gift the audio book to a friend so she could feel and identify with the book as well.
Particularly enjoyed:
"Queer youth are five times more likely to die by suicide"
"To whom it definitely concerns,"
"Instead of depression"
"Love me to life"

Every time I read poetry in the past, I thought that it just wasn't for me.
I never really ~got~ it.
This collection changed that for me.
I found myself wanted to re-read each poem and I was frustrated that I was reading the ebook version because I couldn't underline or highlight the lines that were speaking to me. For the first time, I feel like I understand why poetry is a medium that is frequently referred to as speaking to your soul. I want to go out and purchase each of Andrea Gibson's collections of poetry so I can underline and highlight and reread to my heart's content.

I read this because the poetry of Andrea Gibson was recommended during a book talk by author Jamie Ford. I did not love every poem but I did love the imagery and a few of the poems really touched me.
Such beautiful poems and several lines that I found myself revisiting. Thank you for this work of love!

Probably their strongest written collection, but I still think they're significantly better live. But there are a few really strong pieces here.
My favorites were:
"What Love Is"
"The Day Prince Died"
"The Night Shift"
"Love Letter To The Tick That Got Me Sick"
"The Call, Option 2"
"My Girlfriend's Karaoke Song"
"See This Through"
