This was beautiful and I will read anything Andrea Gibson writes! Their poetry always hits my emotions hard through their use of personal anecdotes and vulnerability. You Better Be Lightning covers diverse themes such as human relationships, love and loss, nature and climate change, mental health, illness and recovery, and healing. This collection really started and ended strong but slowed a bit for me in the middle. Standouts included “Time Piece”, “Queer Youth are Five Times More Likely to Die by Suicide”, “Instead of Depression”, “Not Alone”, and “The Last Hours”.
