This book absolutely surprised me. I've grown up hearing about Dracula, seeing vampire films, reading vampire books, but this was unexpected. It was not merely a monster story, but a tale of friendship, camaraderie, feminine courage, and masculine bravery. It was a story of Christians fighting the greatest evil they could imagine, not just for their own sakes, but for the sake of others. I read this because I thought it would be fun to read. I didn't expect it to leave me in tears at the end. I think this is a new favorite.
