I requested this title on NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I must say that I feel absolutely in love with Felix! He is an adorable, somewhat awkward man who has always been in live with his brother’s best friend, Mort. But Mort hasn’t been in their lives for the past year. He just up and left the entire family who was supposed to mean so much to him. When Mort suddenly reappears with apologies and guarantees to make it up to everyone, Felix is forced to reevaluate his “secret” feelings once more.

When Felix temporarily loses his license, Mort sees this as an opportunity to make it up to the family by acting as Felix’s (who basically runs the entire household of his three younger sisters) chauffeur. Mort is enjoying being close to Felix again and exploring the feelings he has for him, but it proves problematic when Felix can’t get past the constant fear and insecurities over thinking Mort is still in love with Felix’s brother, Roch...

This book was really sweet and the back story was interesting and kept me very invested. Why did Mort take off in the first place? What are his true feelings for Felix? For Roch? I had so much fun learning the answers to these questions. But aside from the main romance, we learn so much about the Rochester family; three amazing sisters, an isolated mother and a brother who Felix feels like he is in the shadow of.

I liked book one in this series a lot and I absolutely loved book two…this one confused me at times and left me questioning parts of book two as well.

There are things I liked about this book so I’m going to list those first because my list of issues is going to make this review sound negative. I do like Felix and Mort together when there are no outside forces getting in the way. Mort does convince me his feelings are 100 percent real for Felix and they share several heart meltingly sweet moments. Mort also breaks my heart a bit with his past and being cast out and wanting to get his ‘family’ back.

I like Tiffany and the twins and the relationships between them and both Felix and Mort. We’re given a glimpse of how great Felix and Mort would be together raising a family.

As for the issues I had with the book; I felt like I came into the middle of a story…and I know we met Mort (quite a bit) and Felix (briefly) in book two but we didn’t get any part of their story, not really.
- This book opens with Mort’s return, with very little explanation for his departure but it was devastating for everyone involved. This is still an area of contention for me as Felix’s mother caused so much angst for seemingly no reason and never fully explains this to the family and has some magical epiphany that changes her outlook.
- Until about the 80% mark, we’re left wondering if Roch and Mort still have feelings for each other…this book felt triangle-ish with Roch being always right there and the jealously flying around. I WAS BEYOND FRUSTRATED BY THIS.
- Mort’s behavior with his coworker (mostly in book two but mentioned here) is REALLY BAFFLING if he started having feelings for Felix BEFORE HE LEFT. So, Mort is trying to convince Felix (and us) that he’s number one but he pursued a coworker while he was in love with Felix? Really?
- The writing was hard to get used to in this book and I don’t remember this issue from the previous two books in the series…not sure if this is me or something changed.

Needless to say I suppose, I was a bit disappointed with this book after loving books one and two but I would absolutely read another book in the series should one be released.

Wow. I loved this way more than I was expecting. I adore Anyta’s books, but I’m generally not a fan of miscommunication and the plot revolves that and some misunderstandings. It turns out this book handles it all really, really well! And there’s Anyta’s trademark slow burn romance. The little details, the love that grows between the MCs, the interactions with their family. It’s all just so well woven together and romantic.

I read this as a stand-alone, but plan to go back and read the rest of the series.

Another winner from Anyta. I don’t think I’ve ever read anything by her I didn’t like so I’m not surprised at all.

I was totally charmed by Felix’s oblivious babbling and Mort’s shameless flirting. The secondary characters, of which there were plenty, were all developed enough to add to the story instead of distracting.

It was slow burn, but not so slow that you want to pull your hair out lol. I think it helps that their attraction is pretty much acknowledged the whole book instead of them living in denial-ville. I actually appreciated seeing Felix finally realize what’s going on and (jealous)Mort trying his damndest win him over. It was overall a super fluffy pick-me-up read.

“The way I am around Mort?”
“Like he cut out your heart and holds it ransom, and you want it back.”
I sink my hand through my hair. “No, Tiff, that’s not right.”
“It’s not?”
I drop my hand and face her. My voice rumbles. “I don’t want mine back. I want his.”

I received this earc from Netgalley in exchange of an honest review.

POSSIBLE SPOILERS

Mort had always considered the Rochester his real family, since he wasn't loved by his biological one. Everything changes when he disappeared for a year, leaving his best friend Roch, his younger brother Felix (who is in love with him since forever), the twins April and May, the teenager Tiffany and a sick and recovering mother alone. When he comes back it's hard regaining the others' trust, since they didn't know at first the real reason he went away. The mother pushed away when she understands he's gay and he's forced away when Felix donated one kidney to the woman, souring his relationship with them since it's not there for them, for him. This book is a slow burning romance, told by Felix and Mort who love each other but fear their relationship and to trust the other again. Felix above all is scared of being hurt. Mort loved Roch years ago and Felix is scared to be a second choice, fearing to trust him completely, while Mort has the most to lose since he considered them his family, battling against loneliness. Their relationship is a sweet one. Mort has to make up for the lost time, taking care of the twins, two crazy young scientists, involved in their experiments, sharing with Roch and Tiffany the passion for dancing, teaching her to drive with Felix, helping Roch to get married with Lauren, hoping to save his relationship with Dolores, the mother, who hurt him and Felix. It's a slow burning romance and it's very cute. Felix is so cute and awkward, Mort is so thoughtful and caring, how he managed to be forgiven, making up for the lost time and saving his friendship with Roch and the others and discovering his love for Felix. I love how their relationship developed into a romantic one. I adore how Felix takes care of his family, his relationship with his sisters and brother. This book is absolutely cute, a sweet romance.

I thought the reason of conflict between the two MC was kind of weak. But it was a nice "feels" book.

This was really sweet. It took a little to get going as we figured out what had happened in the past to have Mort at odds with the Rochester family, but over time as we figured it out it led to a fulfilling story of redemption and coming home.

Mort left town a year ago, and in the process left the only family he really ever knew. No one knew why he left, but he couldn't stand to be away anymore. Coming home is what he needed to do, and he worked hard to regain the trust of all the family members-especially Felix. Felix had a crush on Mort for ages, but he tried to ignore it since Mort had been in love with his brother. It was a slow build for Mort and Felix to really come together and for Felix to realize that Mort was there for him, not Roch. By the time we got to the relationship part, the guys were all in and it was awesome. Great slow burn with true love guiding the way. I really enjoyed this.
