My favorite of the series. This was intricate and slow-moving, and we finally saw some growth in Charlotte's character! I love her dearly, but Lady Holmes can be a real stick in the mud... and arrogant. It was great to see her thrown off her game and to see Lord Ingram's confidence. I will eagerly await the next installment.

i am finding that i am getting a little less excited about this series. I find in general mystery series seldom hold me past the 3rd one. This series did well to hold me so long

I’ve read some Mary Russell books are prefer those to this series. This book felt too long to me and just didn’t hook me.

Very much enjoyed this Lady Sherlock version of a locked room mystery. Of course, the primary reason to read this series is for the characters and the subtle commentary on a variety of social issues (class, gender, race, neurodivergence). And this outing is something of a Christmas mystery as well.

Interesting locked-door case, dragged a little bit. Enjoyed Charlotte and Lord Ingram’s relationship progressing. Her hesitancies were realistic, which added depth. Again missed any side cases.
