This is timely romcom about a tongue-in-cheek contest entry gone viral about Oliver, the titular sexy-ex-boyfriend, which almost costs him a big client that he saves by announcing his fake engagement to his BFF, Summer, which turns into a real engagement after a few bumps along the road because romance and they live HEA.
TW: Oliver has an elder sister who died of cancer when he was a teenager and there's a flashback to 13yrs ago when he and Summer were planning for prom and she was alive.

I had a lot of hope for this book specially the audiobook version because this was a Duet narration and I loved ( but haven't found enough of them) . Unfortunately the characters and their story were just boring. I didn't hate them ( I didn't like the heroine's judgement on her mom and her excessive need to do everything without help) but I also didn't love them. I liked it but I thought the story was just boring.

The narrators were great but the story wasn't

Oliver and Summer have been best friends for so long and find themselves in a bind that pushes them even closer. They may be friends to start, but they have great chemistry. Oliver is British which obviously makes him even more swoony than normal. I really liked that their budding relationship felt really natural to progress, it felt like it just made sense. They were so cute together and I had a lot of fun reading their story!
*I chose to review an early copy*

Lauren Blakely's "Dear Sexy Ex-Boyfriend" was a cute, sweet, and fun story featuring endearing, well-developed characters and a well-crafted friends-to-lovers romance. Main characters Summer and Oliver were beyond adorable together, and their witty banter kept me laughing for hours. I also enjoyed the story structure that provided flashbacks to earlier moments in their friendship throughout the first half of the book. These vignettes made it clear that Oliver and Summer had been fighting their attraction for a long time despite the fact that they were obviously perfect for each other. I completely understood their reasoning - each was afraid of losing a close friend if the romance didn't work out - but it proved to be a risk worth taking since they ended up so much happier in the end.

The secondary characters in this story were also wonderful and added a tremendous amount of depth and humor to the narrative. It was great fun to see Jason again, this time as Oliver's cousin, and I enjoyed meeting their friend Fitz. Summer's brother Logan was an interesting guy too. I am very excited to read Logan's and Fitz's stories later this year!

Overall, I adored "Dear Sexy Ex-Boyfriend" and highly recommend it for all fans of contemporary romance and romantic comedy. I look forward to the next book in the series!

Dear Sexy Ex-Boyfriend was such a wonderful combination of so many of my favorite tropes. Childhood friends to lovers, brother's best friend, and fake fiance all come together for this sweet romcom. Summer and Oliver couldn't have been cuter together and I loved all their shared history. They knew each other so well and have supported and been there for each other time and time again. A comedy of errors and good intentions tests their restraint and forces them to face their buried feelings. I loved seeing Summer and Oliver get tangled up in all their fibs and slowly realize what's always been right in front of their eyes. Things wrapped up a bit quickly at the end, but the epilogues were adorable and brought the story full circle. I'm excited for Fitz and Logan's stories next!

Andi Arndt and Shane East were wonderful together and the duet narration was fantastic. They have such wonderful chemistry and complement each other so well. Their fireside chat was a fun addition and a great way to get to know the narrators a little better. Joe Arden and Kit Swann were also amazing in their cameos/supporting roles. Make sure to listen all the way to the end too, so you can hear all the bloopers! Every Lauren Blakely audiobook is always so perfectly cast and is such a treat to listen to.

When I first read this one, I don't know why the book was named such title. But then as I get reading more of their story, now I understood why. This is is yet another wonderful friends to more story from Lauren Blakely.

Oliver and Summer have been best friends since forever. They were each other's support system through every thing. So when Oliver needed to keep his client after Summer published a letter no one was ever supposed to connect to him, they agreed to concoct a story how they're engaged. They became a sensational couple from one post to another, so they needed to keep up with the ruse.

Well, you guessed it, the more they fake it, the more they feel the lines blurring.

I don't think you could ever go wrong with Lauren Blakely. This was sweet, funny and charming friends to lovers romance
