Goodreads Synopsis

The critically-acclaimed series concludes as Daphne Walters must confront her former roommate Michelle, discover the mystery of just who’s behind that basement door and decide her entire future - this should be totally easy, right?

CRAZY, SUPERNATURAL, LOVE.

Daphne Walters’ life is complicated enough, living at Rycroft Manor with her ghostly friends and trying to figure out why everyone in LA is always 30 minutes late for everything important.

So it’s TOTALLY the perfect time for Daphne to lose one of her friends, for the mystery of the ghost behind the basement door to be revealed and for Daphne to decide her entire future, RIGHT?

And did we forget to mention that Daphne’s former roommate Michelle just unveiled a scheme to exorcise the friendly ghosts from Rycroft? Yeah, there’s that too.

GLAAD Award-nominated Sina Grace (Iceman) and illustrator Siobhan Keenan (Jem and the Holograms) conclude the acclaimed series that proves true love and friendship never dies!

Review

This review may contain spoilers.

So, I wasn’t even aware this was the last volume until I picked it up to read and saw the synopsis, but I personally think that this was a really fitting ending for this series. As with the previous volumes of this series, the plot of this was very intriguing and gripped me throughout and I actually read it all in one sitting. An aspect I loved about this graphic novel and the whole series is the characters, I especially love our main character Daphne and I loved seeing her relationships with the ghostly residents of Rycroft Manor. I especially love the relationship between Daphne and Zola.

Overall, this was a fantastic YA Graphic Novel that perfectly wrapped up the Ghosted In L.A series and I will definitely miss these characters. If the authors ever decide to publish more volumes I will definitely be picking them up.

This is a review of all 3 volumes.

The reason I don’t really read comics/graphic novels/manga it because I don’t think I’m very good at reading them, it’s like my brain can’t compute words and images at the same time in book form.

However, this graphic novel just felt empty to me.  I don’t understand most of the characters and the ones I do I don’t particularly like, everything tended to happen at lightning speed and it just left me feeling unsatisfied, I felt like there wasn’t any real conflict even though the story tried to tell me there was and Daphne wasn’t very likeable, we were told that her friend was controlling but the examples used just showed me that Daphne was an asshole – her friend criticises Daphne following her boyfriend to L.A and Daphne calls her jealous and then when her friend travels to L.A to see Daphne after she doesn’t call or message her it ends up with Daphne yelling at her because after she wants to see where she lives (and Daphne doesn’t even apologise, actually she thinks she did the right thing) – all it showed me was Daphne, quite honestly being a jackass.  I wanted more of the ghosts and to see their lives (although Bernard being an adult ghost and being interested in Ronnie was … weird to say the least) and not Zola, cause just like Daphne, she was kind of insufferable, no wonder the liked each other.

I did like the artwork though.
