It's rare that a novel fundamentally shifts my brain chemistry, much less a fiction novel. And yet, here I am, re-examining my fear of mortality in a way I never have before

I enjoyed it but I wasn’t blown away. Mostly found myself wanting to know what we actually know about the various settings in this book. I assume not much.

As a recovering Catholic who has left religion, I absolutely loved this adaptation of a biblical story told from the POv of a woman, Dinah.

I loved this story in so many ways. The friendships of the women, how their stories were shared, it all felt so incredible to me.

Do yourself a favor and buy this book, it’s probably going to be my top book for 2025.

It is rare that I read a book for the first time already looking forward to rereading it. That was my experience with The Red Tent. It felt like there was so much to dissect, and that I will learn more from Dinah’s story every time I come back to this book. What an incredible contribution to the tradition of commentary on the Hebrew Bible/Torah (not that you need to be Jewish to get so much out of it), and a powerful exploration of the erasure (ish) of women’s stories… what a way to make the point that women’s stories are something truly special. Not to mention the beautiful writing. I could fill pages with quotes that resonated with me. Absolutely a 5⭐️ read.

This book was beautiful. I can’t imagine how many stories have been forgotten or passed down with missing pieces. This book gave life and voices to women that I never could have dreamed of. I felt every bit of Dinah in this book. Absolutely amazing. Selah ❤️
