It was a bit hard to get into this book, but as soon as you understand the jumping timeline and why it is done like that, you understand that it is necessary for the story and how it is built and I wanted to keep reading.
I also really had to get used to the way the dialogues are written in Scottish/Glaswegian dialect, but once you understand a few words that are used often, you can follow the conversation quite easily. Next to that the writing is really really good.
It is a really heartbreaking story that will stick with you and I definitely want to read more books by this author.
The ending is still quite open, but hopeful of a good ending for the main character.
DO read the content warnings for this book in advance, as one in particular is quite substantial.

I actually nearly finished this in a day. I was reading it between tasks at work, walked to the bus stop reading it. Got on the wrong bus because I was so engrossed in it, near halfway to Nairn before I realised it was the wrong one.
