Mungo lives forever in my heart now.  Prepare to fall in love (and sometimes hate) with the characters, the land, the city, the stories, and of course, the love itself.   If you need a sweet, heartbreaking (and heartmending) queer love story, this may be the one for you.

Mungo lives in poverty, with an alcoholic parent who comes and goes, and a violent brother who puts him in very bad situations.  It’s a challenging read.  It has very painful scenes.  It takes you to a dark place, and then it shows you one of the most beautiful lights you’ve ever seen.

Please read.  If you can sit with the pain.  (Read the content warnings)

Listened to an audio book version - a beautiful and horrific telling of queer love in the 90s in Glasgow. Violent, soft, and beautifully written.

A Glaswegian version of A Little Life. So sad, so painful, almost cried and had it been longer I probably would have cried — then again the book felt a bit dragging at times, so I'm glad it wasn't longer (and honestly my heart wouldn't have been able to take it either).

Fun fact: I tried reading this book 3x, but the first two attempts were unsuccessful because the plot was so slow.

But I had the book and figured I might as well give it another go… AND I’M GLAD I DID.

This story is definitely tough to read, as it touches on a plethora of heavy subject matter. My heart is truly aching from it, but it’s definitely worth reading.
