Thoughtful, harsh, heavy; sprinkled with levity. I loved this read, but I would not call it a romantic comedy. It’s more concerned with the romance of the self and the acceptance of moving forward when the things you pursue don’t quite work out the way you plan.
I’ll hold onto the heavy moments of Nina facing her dad’s illness, the falling apart and coming back together of deep friendships, and the difficulty and redemption of her relationship with her mom more than I will hold onto the story of the loss of love from someone who never deserved her love in the first place.

A truly brilliant, enjoyable and relatable book. Every thirty-something woman should read it and everyone else should read it too for insight on what it's like to be a thirty-something woman.
It tackles sick parents, dementia, navigating new relationships, friends having kids and how that feels from both ends, and just generally life, in a really decent way. I will definitely be reading her again. 4.5 stars.
