There were chapters of this book I loved, and chapters that I found frustrating as hell. I'll begin by complaining that leaving out the circumstances of the core crime until 80 pages in nearly had me put the book down. Then the next good hunk of the book was captivating, until it devolved into a caper with characters I couldn't quite believe. While Mason has a gift with language and the sentence, I found her explication of character by how they examined body language, and presented body language distracting. Anyway, not for me.

I got this book through Gallery Books' Goodreads giveaway! Thank you!!! It wasn’t a bad book, but I felt it was riddled with a lot of cliches (think Dirty John, but fictional and with priceless art, making it less believable). It felt a little too dragged out for me. I felt with more concise storytelling, the ending could’ve been much more interesting and captivating rather than a struggle to get through.

A good story is told with a certain truth about it. A momentary snapshot of things. A glimpse of what is or might have been. Not always do we catch everything in the picture, but this story proves that you can never be to certain and to not doubt your inner gut feelings. The characters are strong, the storyline is paced well, and the ending was really well done.

Really interesting premise about the unexpected consequences that can happen when accidentally going viral. The overall plot was good, although at times I found some bits a tad confusing. The characters overall weren't very likable (except 1-2) so it sometimes felt hard to connect/invest in their issues and not a lot actually happens until the last 100 pages or so. Overall interesting read.

A standard thriller with a twist into the art collection and galleries world. Though the story was set in a typical American suburb, it was hard to get into the mindset of the rare fine art world. The story develops by introducing new and more complicated motives in a cast of characters that the reader isn’t sure who to trust, and 14 year old aspiring artist Carly becomes wrapped up in. A little outlandish in some areas, and I wish Donna had had a little more backbone, but overall entertaining enough to finish.

Very interesting and compelling book. The plot revolves around the fallout of an art theft approximately 4 years later, and is told from multiple POVs. The characters are interesting and well-rounded, the plot is fast-paced and intriguing. I liked every character except Jonathan and Roy. I wish I had gotten more background on Donna and her relationship with both Jonathan and Carly.

I enjoyed this book! Sliding into different characters' perspectives makes it hard to know exactly who to sympathize with, and I think it adds credibility to their motivations and conflicts. I loved Carly, the 14 year old whose viral video reignited a ruthless chase for some stolen art. I appreciate how seriously the author takes a young character swept into an adult world. I'd recommend checking it out!
