Not ethically a good book (adultery to the max, plagiarism, etc.) But an interesting look at what it takes to be a writer, to find and follow your passions, and to maybe stand up for yourself.

Eve spends a summer as a research assistant on Cape Cod to a well respected but aging writer for The New Yorker. The summer takes twists and turn she doesn't foresee or expect, and at the end she is left wondering how to make sense of it all.

The story was good, but when the end came, my initial reaction was "So...what was the point of that?" I guess I just didn't get what the moral was at the end, or how the story really got us there. I wanted more out of the characters; they all felt very shallow and one-dimensional to me.

A good quick summer read, but nothing spectacular.

Honestly, this is one of the worst books I’ve read...in my life. It’s sooooo boring and the main character is so unlikable. I thought about not finishing it about 3 times. I finished the book feeling so angry.
Save yourself the time.

Do we finish thinking 'the protagonist is headed in the right direction? yah.', or thinking 'man, anti-antisemitism is going to go on forever'

I don't think i was enamored of any of the characters, but didn't hate any of them...it is interesting.

Since the author represents gender studies, how is the lead character impacted by her gender, versus the male (authors)?
