I think maybe I didn't like this volume as much because just too much was going on, and I felt as though most of the topics weren't delved into as much as they could. Daredevil and Nat. Hawkeye and Nat (we will never know what happened in Budapest). Nat and S.H.E.I.L.D. Nat and X-23.
If Google/Marvel wikis didn't exist, I would only be slightly lost and confused, but they do, so keep that in mind when you read this volume. Especially if you're a new reader (like me).

The more I read of Natasha's exploits outside of the Avengers, the more I want a Black Widow movie. This chick is awesome- strong, fearless, intelligent, not afraid to make mistakes & admit them. She's a well-rounded character. In vol. 2 of Black Widow, we get Daredevil, the Punisher, Tony Stark, Hawkeye & the Winter Soldier; all in varying modes of help or hindrance. From Europe to South America to a boat in the middle of the ocean, Natasha goes in, most often alone, & can more than handle her own in any situation. She says repeatedly that being alone is how she works best, but throughout this volume, you see all the people who she interacts with & who she truly cares about & who'll she'll do anything for & those who care about her & will do anything to help her. Natasha Romanoff is the real deal.

Still not great, but some pretty fun cameos.
I think part of my problem with this series is that I desperately want it to be Velvet and it's not. I want Brubaker writing a Black Widow story because I just don't think Edmondson is good enough at that kind of suspenseful spy story. Don't get me wrong, it's not bad. It does a good job portraying the dark and light sides of Widow. It's just...she doesn't feel like anything except a femme fatale cardboard cutout. I've liked Black Widow in the past because she had a personality, not because she spent all her time either killing or moping. She does run team up with both Punisher and X-23 however, which makes it worth the three stars and worth reading at least if you like Black Widow stories.
And seriously....Edmondson...please for the love of God, enough with the spider references. Black Widow = Spider. We get it. We got it like four issues ago.

I liked this more than vol 1.
Winter Soldier appears and it gets really interesting.
