I only picked up this boon for two reasons, 1.) the cover looked cool, and 2.) my husband’s (and now my) last name is Dyer.
I went in not knowing anything about the book, and I really enjoyed it. I think it was a fun book to read and I like that Mara is a sort of unreliable narrator. I liked it and will definitely read the rest of the series.

The mystery aspect was intriguing, Noah Shaw was cute but annoying most of the time. But I absolutely lost it when the author decided that Mara's mother would be from India and then decided to name her Indi. *slow claps* how original. JFC, just use a baby name website for naming your South Asian characters.
God, this is why I hate 2010 era books. Comfort reads? More like subtly racist reads that are comfortable because they cater to a white audience.
