i really am not enjoying the dudes in this volume

like for real, a lot of male faces are asking to be punched

kyoko mogami is a treasure and a joy, how dare you treat her this way

i hope the next arc takes us away from ren's ~dark side~ plot and back to the glorious world of kyoko winning over every woman she meets

Not sure how I feel about this volume. I liked it, but I'm not sure I'm going to like where this arc finishes.

At this point I'm annoyed at both love interests as well as Kyoko. I wish this series would pick up a bit and that the author doesn't make me hate Ren. If he continues acting the way he has in the last few volumes I might start shipping Kyoko with herself.

I also wish Kyoko would stop dealing with Sho and allowing him to manipulate her. It's getting old. I'd like this particular arc to end so we can move on to something better.

Volume 33 doesn't come out until September and it left off with a crazy cliffhanger!

To quote George Takei about the very last page of this volume:

OH MY!

Buy this title at Powells Books.

Sho continues to be a pain, and Ren continues to be annoyed by it. Kyoko makes a promise that I'm sure will come back to haunt at some point. Pretty much same thing we've seen. Then comes the last page. HOLY WHAT!?! Well played Nakamura-san, well played...

ZXCVGHBKJN THIS SERIESSSSSSSSS

Just amazing!

2022 Skip Beat! Re-read:

Sho Fuwa is so irrelevant at this point whyyyyyy

More great Kyoko-Ren-Sho drama! As I have said before, I love it when Sho goes Kyoko-crazy and does stuff like stalk her at school, kidnap her, and go crazy when her phone is turned off. It serves him right, after the way he treated Kyoko when she was in love with him.

Interestingly, it seems that Kyoko is at least partially aware of her feelings for Ren. It's pretty obvious when Kyoko says she'll never let herself fall for Ren because she knows if she does, she'll fall deeper in love than she ever was with Sho, and it would ruin her. She seems convinced that Ren could never love her, so her falling for him would only hurt her future goals, and her mental well-being. Of course, she doesn't know what we do: that Ren really loves her, too.

In this volume we see more of Ren's internal struggle again Kuon, the vicious, savage person he used to be, the one that seems to be rising to the surface more and more frequently. I love how he put the kibosh on Kijima pursuing Kyoko just by hinting that he liked her. I'll admit, though, the whole last scene, where Ren flips out and blows his character of Cain when Kyoko gets a late-night phone call from Sho, confuses me a bit. Clearly Kuon has been hovering near the surface of his psyche for days, his feelings for Kyoko and jealousy over Sho have pushed his ability to control himself off a cliff, so that he explodes with a crazy, dangerous rage. But what does it all mean? Where is it leading? Is this what Kyoko is hear to lead him out of? Kyoko is understandably freaked out, and the only way she can think to respond is to act like Setsuka would to her brother, and do something she could never do in real life to Ren: throw him on his back and sit on top of him. So, what's going to happen next? Hopefully Ren will be able to start working through his issues. And explaining them a bit!

What a cliffhanger!
