entertaining yes! written well… not exactly

Pretty good. I liked the weird supernatural aspects of the story- wish it ended slightly differently.
Overall a decent read for teens.

This was really disappointing.

So this book was soooo good

Just read it, was not expecting this at all, and that ending was so good!

Meh, parts of this were a really good read. The concept was good, but everyone else’s story except the main characters was infinitely more interesting. It all sort of drifted towards the end.

I thought this was terrific - not your typical teenage angst novel. There was even a Chris Bojahalian-like twist at the end that I did not expect. While it wasn't light and happy, it was well written and engaging.

okay, so not "the secret history" at all, but it was okay. i gave this a 3-star at first because i was hooked by it, but nothing in this book really ... stood out? it was an incredibly intriguing plot but jam wasn't the most interesting of protagonists. i don't mean this in the "she's boring and whiny and i hate her" way. i just didn't like the romance subplot with reeve. and yes, this was sort of an overreaction.

I was excited to read this young adult novel, and I was especially interested in how the writings and themes of Sylvia Plath would be woven in. However, while it's a fine young adult novel overall, it ultimately fell short of my expectations because of some unreasonable plot elements and over simplified characters. It just didn't feel real to me.

didn't do it for me. I couldn't suppress disbelief early on, and couldn't understand why the characters were so willing to go along with what was happening with so little questions. I liked the minor twist in the main character's life at the very end, I felt like that redeemed a small part of the plot, but overall, wouldn't recommend

A YA novel with magic realism, a great twist, and a wonderful English teacher.
