I really enjoyed this sequel! I am on the edge of my seat waiting for book 3 now! I am sad to find Sophronia is really dead, but I'm glad Daphne and Leopold were able to be convincing enough to save Violie by claiming she was Sophronia. Daphne really came through in the end, I think she needed that chat with her sister to truly understand that her mother was plotting to kill all 3 sisters.
I liked Beatriz POV. She's discovering her magical limits and what she will do to keep those she loves safe. I'm glad the group escaped, and I'm eager for the reunion of Triz and Daph they'll be a force to be reckoned with with Violie on their side as well.

Stardust in their Veins is a suspenseful and tension-filled sequel that picks up immediately following the cliffhanger ending of book one. In this second book of the trilogy, there's a lot of moving chess pieces into place but that doesn't mean that it was boring. Truths make themselves known, a lifetime of lies unravels, alliances break, friendships form, the stakes get higher and above all, the sisterly bond perseveres and they fight like hell to survive.
If the first and second book are anything to go by, this series just might end up being a new favourite YA fantasy. These books have been absorbing, action-packed, exciting and fun YA fantasy full of twists and turns that will keep you on your toes. Sebastian's writing is great and the world and characters have continued to grow on me. Most of them are morally grey and tread a fine line with being villanous but that makes it all the more exciting to read about them. What I appreciate is how much closure we get for all the characters, even the important secondary characters whose "main arcs" seem to have ended in book one. Some of these scenes where we see revenge enacted were very satisfying!

I knew I would love this book, but that ending was so exciting! I am a huge fan of Laura's characters, I love her pacing, and the constant lies and intrigue. I don't know how I am going to wait until the next book comes out!!
Daphne and Beatriz try to process their sister Sophronia's death. Daphne continues to dodge assassination attempts and makes another attempt at wedding Bairre while refusing to believe that her mother is responsible for her sister's death. Beatriz escapes from the Sororia with Nigellus's help and rescues Pasquale in the process. They happen upon Viole, King Leopold, and Ambrose in an inn and decide how to move forward now that they know the Empress wants her daughters dead. Who will survive to oppose the Empress and her plans? #StardustinTheirVeins #NetGalley

After the ending of the first book and its heartbreaking death of Sophie and the realization that they are all expendable by their mother in order for to gain control of all the kingdoms to become empress, I was eager to see what Beatriz and Daphne would do to survive and hopefully put an end to this madness.
While not as strong as the first book, I did enjoy this one, and I liked the new viewpoint of Violie and getting to know her better and how Sophie's death affected her. And it is not surprising that Beatriz went darker in her anger (I mean, her sister was killed and their mother betrayed them!) and how Daphne had such a hard time accepting the truth, even as more of what their mother had done comes to light. Yes, it is a dark story and though this book was more set up for the last one. I think it was well written and I need to read that third book now to see if we can have a happy ending after all that darkness and death and betrayal.

This was a very enjoyable second installation in what I consider to be an underrated fantasy series. The story is full of drama, intrigue, suspense, romance, and revenge. The writing is well done and will grasp you in as a reader with its intensity and high stakes. I did feel, however, that this book was a little long, at over 500 pages. Don't get me wrong--A LOT happens and it is very interesting, but some of the slower parts I wish could have been progressed quicker. I'm eager to see what happens in the next book!
After reading Castle in Their Bones I had no idea how I was going to survive waiting for book 2. Castle in Thier Bones has a huge cliffhanger. I will say the cover is a bit disappointing. I don't think it goes with book 1. I would not even realize these were the same series if I didn't see the author's name. I think they need to redo the cover for book 1 since books 2 and 3 look like they go together. Once again holy crap the ending was mind-blowing. The twists and turns. That cliffhanger!! I can't wait for the next installment. I was hesitant to read this one because I did not want another cliffhanger and extremely long wait between books. I can't wait to reread them!!
