My first real classic I read on my own! It was exceedingly difficult to get into it at first, but I soon learned to enjoy the manner of dialogue and syntax. It’s a good brain exercise! I can imagine how much drama those girls were experiencing, and it made me laugh. I see why it is a loved classic, but I don’t think I’ll be able to read it again for a long long time. It was very slow, but rewarding at the end. I’m glad I read it.

This pretty obviously a reread but I don't think I have ever reviewed it before.

I don't actually know how many times I have read this novel. I still get a huge amount of enjoyment from it but over the years my opinions on the characters have changed quite a lot. I have chosen to give one of the world's most famous novels 3 stars because my feelings about the events of the book have changed from 'what a lovely, satisfying story' to 'what exactly did Elizabeth Bennet do to deserve her great good fortune'.

"Pride and Prejudice" is a classic, and I found it easier to read than "Emma" since I am more familiar with the story due to the popularity of modern adaptations. I laughed out loud when reading the dialog between Mr. and Mrs. Bennet in the opening chapter of the book. There were still some parts I found slow, dull, or difficult to follow, especially since the language and use of words differs from today. I feel I would prefer to watch a video adaptation so that I can pick up on non-verbal / social / contextual cues that are difficult to parse in the text. Even so, I enjoyed reading this classic novel.
