I know it is a classic but it felt like reading a load of nonsense to me...

Man did this take a long time to read, which is surprising because it is super short. I don't know... I thought I would love it because I loved the animated movie adaptation as a kid. Don't get me wrong there were certain parts I loved about it, like all the characters and their weird quirks, but there were a couple of scenes which I was strugglingggg to get through. I think since it took me so long to finish, my reading mood changed and towards the end of the book I was ready for something else. Hopefully this review will change the next time I attempt to read it.

To a great many this book may be utter nonesense, and on one realm it is, but if you look beyond the puns and wordplay, and do not care that no plot thats introduced is really ever concluded, and I think if you rally a little madness yourself, you can find many gems of amusments and whimsy in it.
Like a dream, this story jumps around and takes many a subject that could be quite normal, and twists it to make it ridiculous.
I also know that if you've ever listened to young children tell stories, their adventures also make as little sense as Alice's did, but still we listen and smile and laugh with them.

That was really interesting. That is honestly about as much as I can say.
It's my first time actually reading this classic after having seen its multiple movie adaptations and I can say it was not what I expected. Well to be honest, I don't really know what I was expecting but I know that what I read wasn't it, if that makes any sense (lol). The movies definitely took a different path with the story so I guess I was expecting more of that path instead of what I got in this book. Not that that is bad, because I know the books are always quite different. But I guess I just had different expectations.
The story is quite confusing and random, as all dreams are. So in the end, funnily enough, it makes sense. I can definitely see its appeal and why this story is so beloved. I'm glad I gave it a try and decided to read it but I doubt I will ever pick it up again.
