i really enjoyed summer as a main character. she’s bright and extremely feminine and very unapologetic.
was kind of disappointed when u realized there was gonna be a love triangle in this. i understand what it did for the plot but hunter is just so annoying abt it. calling dibs is never going to work. calling dibs doesnt do anything bc she liked the other guy before u anyways??? whatever was happy when that got dropped.
hate to admit it but this got me really excited for brenna’s book and now i have to read it 😭😭.

There’s a little to much chase in The Chase. For most of the book, Fitz earnestly acts like a guy who doesn’t want to be caught. But a little nudity totally solves that and all his other relationship issues, right?

There was such a great tone of feminism throughout the book, but then there’s some weird shit like admiring a Nazi collaborator, and casual cocaine use.

It gave what it was supposed to give, I was entertained.

The big plot pints were quite predictable and the main characters a little too stereotype.

I liked how the romance between Summer and Colin was developed, their pining and attraction was catching and convincing, sadly - once they got together - the relationship wasn’t much further developed and got overshadowed by the side plots being wrapped up.

I thought it really sketch that one of the main boys was throwing around a form of the r-slur while a main plot point was the main character having a learning disability??

Also the ONLY (literally single character who had dialogue) non white character was demonized and made into a prejudiced douche.

POV: You’re in love with Fitzy and Summer at the same exact time.

I thought this book was so so cute. I absolutely adore summer I think she’s the cutest thing EVER. I really appreciated seeing her struggle with her ADHD and made me feel better about my own. Fitzy is the sweetest man and so hot, like hello???

My brain goes caveman on me.
Summer scream.
Summer danger.
Save summer.

I’m in love with this man.
My TW/CW:
  • Sexual Assault:
a side character has an attempted sexual assault, summer stops it before anything too serious happens
  • Sexual Harassment:
Summer is sexually harassed by her professor
  • Ableism:
Summer is treated badly by her academic advisor for her ADHD, and she has some self deprecating internal dialogue but she grows and learns to accept herself ♡
