What do I even say. This book hurt me. It hurt me so poetically that I have to love it. Toni Morrison writes so confidently. She so assertively builds the world of her story that it is unquestionably real. I’m going to have to read something more cheery after this

My first Toni Morrison book, but it’s definitely not my last.

It just kept getting more disturbing as you read on. Youd think there would be character development but... not really, only at the end is there a bit of reflection but at that point it was too late to really consider it as one. And by the end I literally mean the end, like 1-2 pages left end.

I don't think there were any morally good characters; everyone had their issues. The only character that could be loved moreso through pity is Pecola
since she was the one who suffered from everyone else till the end.

It was confusing for a while but the pieces came together as I was reading. Its definitely impactful but a lot of disgusting scenes (rape, pedophilia, incest, etc.) Though it adds onto the reality of a broken family and community that Toni Morrison was going for. It was well written, would definitely reread if I want to put myself through this painfully disturbing story again.
