A really fascinating read! I find the comparisons to be extremely interesting, the topic itself is intriguing and the personal comparisons from the author were refreshing and added perspective that not many have! 4 stars it is!

I have so many thoughts about this, but unlike how this book was written I will try to keep this concise and to the point. The book started with talk about a crazy wall, which was apt because this whole thing read like Charlie Kelley’s rant about Pepe Silvia. We were constantly jumping from one serial killer’s exploits to another then to smelting and the impact of arsenic and lead on human behavior to unnecessary and irrelevant connections to the author’s life (such as the fact that her dad drove a VW Beetle, just like Ted Bundy). It kind of came together at the end(?), but not in any sort of profound or convincing manner. I admonished this book aloud frequently and recommend everyone save themselves from 15 hours of displeasure (much less if you end up ramping it to 3.0x speed because you can’t stand it anymore) and not read this book..

Wow. Incredible, eye-opening, and well-researched. Dark, yes, but the connecting the horrible industrial poisoning (lead, arsenic, etc.) to creating so many demented serial killers is fascinating. Yet, here we are again. Without government regulations and oversight, we are destined to repeat history by allowing corporations to poison our environment and children and sow a new crop of serial killers.

I struggled with parts off this book due to the disturbing and detailed accounts of the murders. That was by far my least favorite aspect of the book (but I know why the author did that and why it was necessary).
I was fascinated with her history of the area and the impacts of the environment. After listening to about 50% of the book I felt like it was just so repetitive and I really wasn’t learning anything new. It could have been much shorter.and I feel like.
I absolutely loved the author’s voice/storytelling and will certainly be looking into her other books.

The way it was written made it a little difficult to follow at points, but it got easier as the book went on.
