Listened to several chapters of the audiobook, read the rest through the wonderful Pewaukee Public Library.

I did largely enjoy this book, as much as one can enjoy reading about horrific crimes and environmental disasters. There were some moments, specifically during sections regarding the floating bridges in and around the Tacoma/Seattle area and the Guggenheims, where I felt like maybe I had wandered into a separate story, but otherwise found the chronology easy enough to follow. This is also really the only true crime book I’ve ever finished reading—so extra points to Fraser for managing to keep the story engaging and consistent enough to not make me completely lose my will to read with each new serial killer introduction and exploration.

Lead is a vampire; invite it in and it will drink your blood and live forever.

Great writing. Fascinating examination of corporate greed, zealous capitalism, and unmitigated environmental pollution and how these can spur bloodlust and tragedy.
