Somewhere along the hub of the Disc, Terry Pratchett decided he could have some fun making pastiches of well known stories. It's rather obvious that Maskerade takes a lot of inspiration from The Phantom Of The Opera, but he throws enough Pratchett-esque twists in that it doesn't spoil the plot for those of us familiar with the original story. And, of course, there are Witches.

So I'm fairly new to Terry Pratchett but I must say I'm loving the new audiobooks they're putting out. The narration is top notch, and Pratchett's stories are imaginative, funny, and overall just wonderful. This one is a riff off of Phantom of the Opera, but it's got an original plot and characters, so you won't get bored even if you think you know the story. Also the worldbuilding is completely different in Pratchett's universe than anything else I've ever read. It's amazing.

Very funny, as expected, but I feel some of it has not aged particularly well.
THIS WAS SO GREAT.
Following INTERESTING TIMES this felt like the biggest breath of fresh air ever. It also probably benefited tremendously from following what I would consider the worst Discworld book so far. Being back with the Witches, and following them on an adventure to Ankh-Morpork, was lovely.
I'm also really enjoying Agnes/Perdita, and feel hopeful she will be present in the next Witches outing. I REALLY hope she's present as someone who is fat and capable and wonderful. I hope Pratchett doesn't have her drop weight.
Definitely one of my top 5 (maybe top 3) Discworld favorites so far. And I'm getting closer to halfway through, wow! =D
