A nihilist's dream come true. Take some of the most famous DC storylines and distort them. Some of these stories end with a "happy ending," but they're brutal and not very satisfying? When you look at this from that expectation and perspective, it's certainly a job well done. I wouldn't read this if you're already down or depressed, that's for sure.

These are not really tied together, so you can read them at your own pace. There were a few stories I hadn't read yet originally, but it's presented in a way that you can pick up the diverging path easily.

Read via DC Universe Infinity.

This review its in spanish.

Quite a terrifying view of some of the biggest crises and events in DC history that asks 'what if'.

I thought it would tie in to Metal more than it does, but it really works on its own as an anthology.
I really appreciate that it quickly explains what happened in the "main continuity" before telling those "what if"-type stories. I (sadly) haven't read all of the major events they are about (I started reading comics later and -sadly- can't read everything at once), and I never felt lost.
The edition I'm reading also includes the actual issues that are reimagined, also a very good thing.
I think almost every story had me engrossed, really. It wasn't as bleak as I thought it was going to be, it's not devoid of hope and love and this kind of things, it really is about how a single moment, a single choice can derail a whole planet. It doesn't always go sideways as fast as we think or the way we think, or it might start with a "good thing" ; in most of them, there are a few turns that made them really catch my attention. I didn't like the Judas Contract story as much as the others, it lacked emotion in my opinion (I also didn't like the art style). I think the one that hit me the hardest is the Infinity Crisis one. It really gave me that "I love it but I hate this" feeling, it's really a trainwreck in slow motion.
I will note that it really isn't the best book in terms of "let's get female characters actually involved". I have beef on that aspect with the Blackest Night story in particular, but the problem is that it's a general problem, as usual. They shouldn't have had an all-guy team for this anthology, really.
In the end, though, I would recommend this to most readers of DC comics.

While I liked this collection of What If DC Dark Multiverse stories, I feel it could have been a little stronger if the newer issues were paired up with the original issues they were pulling from, rather than front-loading the collection with the newer material and having the original issues as supplemental content.
