What a lovely story. I teared up more than once while reading.
Lorna grew up on an island in the northbound Scotland. As a child she couldn’t wait to escape the island and her parents.
Twenty years later she returns to the island and has to face her past - the ways she was hurt and suffered but also others she hurt by staying away.
Alice is her brother‘s wife. She came to the island and fell in love - with Jack and the island. She stayed running a farm and teaching yoga. Now she faces obstacles which might change her forever.
Both women have never met but during the summer they grow close, discover what they have in common and from a deep bond of friendship.
I really enjoyed the story and liked the characters. I loved that even though romance is part of the story it is more about friendship, family, growing and healing.
What bothered me were small inconsistencies in the timeline. Besides that, a wonderful read.

Having read all @libbypagewrites other books I was so excited to have had the chance to read this on @netgalley .
Lorna, a single mum living in London with her daughter Ella has not been home to the island of her childhood for over 20 years. Her life in London is not great, they live in a small flat, she has only one close friend and has a boss who is inappropriate with her.
After the death of both her parents Lorna and her daughter are on their way to the island of Kip, her childhood home and to her brother who still lives there with his family. Lorna has not spoken to him in a long time and is scared about going back to meet those in the community she left behind so suddenly.
Told from both Lorna and her sister in law - Alice’s perspective we learn through the story the reasons for her sudden departure and her cutting herself off from everyone she knew some twenty years before. Her re-connection with the island and its inhabitants is not what she expected and she learns more about herself and her family as well as the people living on the island.
The feeling of community and friendship is very strong throughout the book. I loved the sense of strength in the relationships of those living on the island and the friendships the women had with each other.
Family secrets and forgiveness between Lorna and her brother were dealt with in a sensitive way and I rooted for the two of them to heal their wounds, it’s never too late to try and resolve differences.
Add to all the tensions a bit of a love interest and I’m hooked.
A book about the importance of home and the strength of the ties that bring us back to family and friends. It’s full of hope and heart-warming characters who pull you into their lives.
A 4 star read for me. Throughly enjoyed it, great characters, an island and family and friends - what more could life offer?❣️

I so love anything libby page writes, such feel good reads. This I think is her best. Very invested in the characters, wanted it to end well and didn't want it to end. Loved it.
