The overall plot of this was enjoyable. I really liked the romance. The push and pull romance was fantastic.

What I didn't like was all the politics. I know I should be happy for this. This historical romance takes the stigma of this genre and throws it away. The "not serious" type of book stigma. The politics are realistic since it is family drama plots as this one that really did happen. But I found this had too many twists and turns. One moment this is happening, then this. This person introduced as so-and-so, and then someone else is actually that person instead. It was just very all over the place for me and that's why it's getting 4 stars and not 5.

Eh. I liked the characters, but I thought... the friction between them in England felt forced. Also,
Spoilerif someone left me mourning their death for, what, 4 weeks? And then walked into a room where I was oblivious and drinking tea, like nothing had happened, they'd be dead for real.
But she barely batted an eye at it - she was mad and over it so fast it was utterly unbelievable to me.

So this overall gets a meh.

That said, I'm still curious about the ring. So perhaps I'll press onward anyway.

This was well written and I liked it, but I had a lot of trouble following some of the plot twists and turns. Felt like they were added to make the book novel-length less than actually being needed.

I’m a newer reader to the titles from Katharine Ashe but she does not disappoint. I really enjoyed the first in her Prince Catchers series, I Married the Duke. Arabella is trying to fulfill a family prophecy that says that the sister who marries a prince will reveal their true parents. On her way to her prince Arabella encounters Luc, a dashing sea captain who keeps his true identity hidden. I loved the banter between them, neither of them wanted to back down from a verbal argument. The secondary characters were great and I loved the introduction to Arabella’s sisters and am eagerly waiting for their books. I really enjoyed how both Arabella and Luc were open to the possibility of love but may not know how to express those feelings. I also loved that they were each willing to work hard and sacrifice for that love. A great read with some fun characters in a storyline that isn’t over just yet.

I only wish he had not kept thinking of her as a servant in his head, like thinking it a lot. I did want to, omg you all, wait for it, hit him over the head! You so did not see that coming ;) He was all, she was born to be a duchess. How could she have been born a servant?
Are you serious dude? You just complained about your evil guardian! Obviously not all noblemen are noble and not all commoners common.

When I am done with that.
Arabella was told that one of them would marry a prince. The silly girl was convinced it would be her, and that if she only found a prince it would be that prince. Oh you made me lol. But I am seriously wondering about that prince that there is to come now!
Anyway, she was a governess, great at her job. She did not back down. She was smart. And she really wanted to find a prince.

Then she meets a dashing captain that will bring her to said prince (to care for his sister). Luc had a troubled past. Evil guardian (ugh, what an evil sob.) He is in line to a dukedom, and is a Comte in France. But Arabella does not know, also, he is not a prince so who cares! Other than thinking of her as the servant I did like him.

Ok so this whole prince thing does have a point. A fortune teller told her and her sisters that one would marry a prince and then they would learn who their father is. Which is not told her then since she did not marry a prince. And I am so curious about it! There are no clues!

A sea journey. Romance on a beach. Evil men lusting for blood. Seeeecrets! Falling for a captain who is a nobody. And more suspense to come. She did keep up the pace.

I enjoyed it. And I want those secrets

Narrator
I liked her voices. But the audio was lower than usual in this one, and I also had to speed it up more than normal. You know i like my narrators to talk fast, that is normal speed (to me)

I enjoyed this book, I haven't read many adult romance novels but I thought this would be the perfect book for me to dip my toes in the water. I love reading about this era and I really fell in love with the characters (minus Luc's strange fetish about her hair lol). I did feel that the plot could've been more elaborate and I felt the second half tended to drag on. All in all, I enjoyed it and I love the fact that each book is based on a different sister. I'm tempted to pick up the sequel.

I'm sorry, but I just couldn't read this book until the end.

There's nothing special about the writing, I didn't like how quickly things happened between Arabella and Lucien and it was all plain boring.

I will only read another book in this trilogy if Talin is the hero. He really captured my attention and, even though I don't know him very well, I want him to be happy.

Let's wait and see.

I didn't like this one as much as a couple of the other Katherine Ashe books. I think the Rogue one was my favorite.

I was ready to love this - the prologue is great and sets up the series beautifully. Unfortunately, when our heroine meets her hero, I kept finding myself getting a little bit bored. The dialogue was intended to be cute and flirtatiously combative but there was just no flow. I recently reread Play by Kylie Scott and she is a master of dialogue that just leaps off the page and plays out a living scene before my eyes and the same cannot be said for this book.

Sad making. Let's hope I get to read a gem or two over the long weekend.
