An incredibly frustrating protagonist who does not stop talking about trees and forests, and the rather unconvincing characterisation mostly ruined the book for me. Story was otherwise have been interesting enough but didn't find any of the characters very well written. Mogget is the highlight

This is one of those books that I didn't really love, but I respected many of the things it was trying to do. Found the first half slow, and the second half quite a bit better.

Of course, I am now really excited about the prospect of more Abhorsen books. I think I need to re-read the all in my not-so-copious spare time.
