A quick one sitting read; very cute, had some spicy moments, and was still able to address fantasy racism is a good way that isn’t in the same old same old way

What an amazing book
I now want a glowkitten and a teacup boar please and thank you.
The MCs were amazing as well as the side characters. I can't wait to see more of everyone in the next book. Hopefully next dozen books. This is a must read.

This might be a 1-star situation but I’ll give it a little higher since I did finish it… (barely but who’s counting!)
This might be read-able if you turn your brain off. But I had a hard time buying this whole thing. I think it would’ve made the story better (and make more sense) for a fake dating/second chance romance instead of a fake dating/reformed bully romance.
I HATEEEE that they reconnected at the end at their HS reunion, like I promise adults do not think about HS this much.
It also kept doing the “feeling I can’t name” “smell I can’t place” “i don’t even know what I’m asking” thing which pisses me off. Like clearly you wanted a certain emotion/smell/action to be performed so why are we pretending otherwise??
Yeah, I think I hated this. For a short story, it hits on all the wrong aspects of relationship building. There is practically no world-building. I don’t know a thing about these characters, so why would I root for them? We could’ve used a few more pages to fully develop the story/relationship for things to maybe make sense.
They also really leaned into the species prejudice thing and it felt like too big of an arc to just be a byline in a few chapters.
