Another great read in this series. I liked the focus on Andrea and Raphael.
I had this book the day it came out. But it took me almost a month to want to crack it open. i was curiously reluctant to read it even though I love this author and I love this world. maybe because it wasn't featuring Kate front and center?
At any rate, I needn't have waffled. It was immediately awesome. I like the deep background we get on Andrea and the closer look at some of her issues. Even though in the previous books her allegiance to the Order makes sense, it was nice to get the to the reasons behind her decisions.
I thought Raphael was a bit of a wanker in this one, but I am glad their wrangling didn't drown the whole book. They make up in what I felt was a reasonable amount of time in a reasonable manner. Also, it was clear they were both still very much not over each other. It was right there on surface, so even further happier that things didn't drag out.
This plot of the story mainly plays out like a police procedural/mystery with Andrea tracking down the identity of a person(s) who killed shifter members of Raphael's crew.
The big bad in this one is charming, funny, a lot scary and a lot crazy.
I always forget what a deft hand Andrews has with humor. I found myeslf laughing out loud at quite a few parts.
Great installment to the Kate Daniels world.

Gunmetal Magic by Ilona Andrews – This went on sale, so I called it a birthday present to myself. Seeing Andrea’s fight for her place in the world from her own eyes instead of Kate’s is a lot of fun. You really see why Kate and Andrea get along so well when you dive into Andi’s backstory. And you get some fun times with our favorite dark Russian priest! Happy Reading!
I love the world of Kate Daniels so reading a story in the same world with a different narrator was a treat. I liked delving into Andrea's backstory and getting her perspective of Kate and other characters I've come to know and love. My one problem with this book was that I had wished I read the Kate novella first as Andrea's story overlaps but then goes farther than it.

Another great book by Ilona Andrews. Kate Daniel's Atlanta is a world so alive and real, that the reader gets lost in it and doesn't want to return.
Andrea and Raphael are two of my favorite charactors from past novels and I was excited to see them in their own book, one of the joys of an Ilona Andrews
novel is that the secondary charactors are as real and interesting as the main charactors. In fact, I can't wait to see more of Roman in books to come.
